On Tuesday 14 April 2026, BCB handed over a Probox vehicle to the KIGEGA S.A project — a commercial centre operating at the Palais des Arts in Bujumbura that gives young Burundian producers a structured outlet to sell their goods. The donation is intended to ease the supply and delivery of Made-in-Burundi products.
The initiative reflects a strategy that places SMEs (PME, small and medium enterprises) at the heart of BCB's priorities and supports young talent through the PAEEJ (Youth Economic Empowerment Programme). It aims to encourage the start-up and growth of SMEs, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, and consolidate the bank's balance-sheet transformation strategy toward this growth-bearing segment.
By backing initiatives like KIGEGA, BCB reaffirms its commitment to a new generation of Burundian entrepreneurs and to the local production they bring to market.
